Dr. Laval Yau

President and 30-year contributor to the success of Thomson Research Associates.

Dr. Yau is a graduate of the University of London, England (BSc in Biochemistry and PhD in Chemistry), and of the University of Toronto, Canada (MA in Business Administration).

During his career Laval has served as Chair of the Research Committee RA 31 for the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC). Currently he is Chair of the AATCC RA49 committee on Insect Resistance Test Methods which is developing test methods for evaluating the efficacy of dust-mite and bed-bug treatments.

Glenn Runciman

As Global Sales Director Glenn leads the TRA marketing effort for both Ultra-Fresh and Silpure.

Glenn began his career as a Microbiologist with Thomson Research Associates in 1981, after graduation from the University of Toronto. He managed the lab testing services through the 1980s, then became Technical Services Manager, assisting the TRA sales force around the world. He has held his present responsibilities since 1998.

Barrie Clemo

As Sales Manager, Barrie travels the world for Thomson Research Associates promoting the use of Ultra-Fresh among customers and distributors.

He is a chemistry graduate of the University of Toronto, with over 25 years experience in specialty chemicals for industry, both in the laboratory and in sales and marketing.

Dr. Dave Klein

Dave is Project Manager Research and Development, and also oversees general laboratory operations.

Dr. Klein is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Canada (PhD in Microbiology), and has been with Thomson Research Associates since 1997. Since 1999 he has been a member of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

Tom Aroella

Our Regulatory Affairs Specialist provides expert guidance on the use of TRA products in countries around the world.

Tom joined Thomson Research Associates in 2000. Born and raised in Toronto, he has both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto.

Alexandre Mantchenko

As the Manager of Chemistry, Alexandre maintains the highest level of testing performance on behalf of customers.

He is a graduate of the University of Grozny, Russia (BEng in Chemical Engineering). During his 15-year career with TRA, Alexandre has developed and validated all in-house analytical protocols for treated articles and production batches. He has also contributed to the development of several new formulations.

Sonia Poropat

From co-op student to Microbiology Manager, Sonia is a key member of the laboratory team.

Sonia graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc (Specialized Honours Microbiology). She first worked at TRA in 1996 as a co-op student, and became a full-time employee in 1997. Sonia is at present on maternity leave, and will return to her duties in September 2009.

Bob Beauchemin

In Canada, Bob is our Technical Sales Representative for Ultra-Fresh, specializing in textile processes and applications.

Bob graduated from textile school in 1969. He worked in the textile industry for 10 years as a dyer, followed by 6 years selling specialty chemicals. He joined Thomson Research Associates in 1986 and worked as a Dye and Chemicals salesman before taking on his present responsibilities.
