Thomson Research Associates’ Privacy Code
Thomson Research Associates (TRA) recognizes the individual’s right to protection of personal information. In accordance, TRA is committed to ensuring that an individual’s privacy is protected by collecting only the information necessary, safeguarding the storage of that information, affording the individual the opportunity to review and correct any errors in that information and limiting the use of the information to those uses to which the individual has given consent.
- All personal information is only to be collected with the consent of the individual. In obtaining the consent of the individual TRA will outline what information is being requested, the reason(s) for collecting the information, how the information will be stored and how the information will be used.
- Any and all personal information collected by TRA is to be kept confidential and only used for the purposes for which the affected individual has given consent or where required by law or court order.
- An individual may request to review the information held by TRA concerning that individual. This request can be made to the individual’s supervisor if the individual is an employee of TRA or to the individual’s sales contact should the individual be a customer of TRA. Or the request may be made in writing to the Regulatory Affairs Manager.
- Should, upon reviewing the information held by TRA, an individual find (an) error(s) the individual can request that the error(s) be corrected. This request is to be made in writing to the person from whom the information was requested. TRA shall append the written request to the individual’s file and make the appropriate revisions to the information.
- The Regulatory Affairs Manager shall oversee the functioning of this Code.
- If an individual has a concern or complaint about an issue relating to TRA’s Privacy Code or the information in that individual’s records that concern should be expressed to the individual’s supervisor or sales contact. If the issue is not resolve then the individual should forward, in writing, that concern to the Regulatory Affairs Manager. If the Regulatory Affairs Manager is unable to resolve the issue the individual should forward a written submission to the President of TRA.
